The Answer Man

While Vince Donahue is a big fan of “whodunits” and is even writing one of his own, it’s no mystery that student veterans sometimes need assistance readjusting to civilian life.

Veterans put themselves in harm’s way by serving their country on the front lines. As a former Army reservist, I know how important it is for me to make sure these students reach their educational goals and enjoy a smooth transition to civilian life.

Sometimes it’s hard for veterans to readjust because soldiers are used to moving together as a squad and having most of their decisions made for them. When they return home, it’s a 180-degree turn, as they have to get back to thinking for themselves.

In addition to helping veterans, I provide guidance for people who are out of work or are changing careers. When students come to me for help, they may be frustrated, angry, or confused about their situation. Many times all they need is someone who will listen to them. I take great pleasure in seeing that “ah-ha” moment when they discover what they want to do with their lives.

I consider myself the “answer man” and love steering students in the right direction..
